The founders of Brymac Native Bees were inspired by the importance of ensuring awareness of Australia's stingless Bees and their intrinsic value to pollination and their benefits to humans.
Native bees are a critical insect in Australia. They are extremely important for pollination and the sustainability of plants. Their honey and wax is proven to have incredible medicinal benefits. With the constant reduction of their natural habitat, looking after our Native bees is even more important to their, and our, survival.
Of the nearly 2000 species of Native Bees in Australia, there are only 11 species of social stingless native bees. These are broken down into two groups, or genera:
Tetragonula and Austroplebeia.
The Tetragonula genera have six species:
* Tetragonula Carbonaria
* Tetragonula Hockingsi
* Tetragonula Clypearis
* Tetragonula Davenporti
* Tetragonula Sapiens
* Tetragonula Mellipes
The Austroplebeia genera have five species:
* Austroplebeia Australis
* Austroplebeia Cincta
* Austroplebeia Cassiae
* Austroplebeia Essingtoni
* Austroplebeia Magna
